Description

Rat ERb ELISA Kit

Rat ERb ELISA kits are used to detect Estrogen Receptor Beta (ERb) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ERb, or estrogen receptor beta (ESR2, NR3A2), is a ligand-activated nuclear hormone receptor that binds estrogens with an affinity similar to that of estrogen receptor alpha. After binding hormone it activates transcription of genes carrying estrogen response elements in an estrogen-dependent manner. ERb is expressed in tissues including the ovary, prostate, colon, lung, bone and brain, and its splice variants differ in function, for example one isoform lacks ligand binding and has little or no estrogen response element activity. Variants in the gene have been associated with ovarian dysgenesis, and altered ERb expression has been reported in breast, prostate and colon cancers, making it a research target in endocrinology and oncology.
