Description

Rat F13A1 ELISA Kit

Rat F13A1 ELISA kits are used to detect Coagulation Factor XIII A1 Polypeptide (F13A1) in plasma and other biological samples. F13A1 is the catalytic A subunit of coagulation factor XIII, a plasma protein that circulates in a complex with the B subunit and is also present in platelets and macrophages. Thrombin and calcium activate it into a transglutaminase, which forms gamma-glutamyl-epsilon-lysine cross-links between fibrin chains and so stabilises the fibrin clot against breakdown. It also cross-links alpha-2-plasmin inhibitor and fibronectin to fibrin, which further strengthens the clot and supports wound healing. Inherited deficiency of the A subunit is a rare recessive bleeding disorder characterised by lifelong bleeding tendency, delayed wound healing and pregnancy loss, and reduced factor XIII activity may also be seen in acquired conditions such as severe liver disease.
