Description

Rat GP73 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Rat GP73 ELISA kits are used to detect Golgi Protein 73 (GP73) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. GP73, also called GOLM1 or Golgi membrane protein 1, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein located in the cis- and medial-Golgi apparatus. It is expressed at low levels in normal biliary epithelial cells and other epithelia, and its expression increases in response to viral infection, so it is considered part of the cellular response to infection. A soluble form can be cleaved and secreted into the blood, and its precise physiological role is still not well defined. GP73 is upregulated in hepatocytes in liver disease, and serum levels have been reported to be elevated in hepatocellular carcinoma, cirrhosis and viral hepatitis. It is therefore widely studied as a candidate biomarker for liver cancer, alongside alpha-fetoprotein.
