Description

Rat LEPR ELISA Kit

Rat LEPR ELISA kits are used to detect Leptin Receptor (LEPR) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. LEPR, also called the leptin receptor or OB-R, is a single-pass transmembrane cytokine receptor expressed in the hypothalamus and in peripheral tissues including the pancreas, liver, immune cells and bone, and it exists in several membrane-bound and soluble isoforms. When bound by the adipocyte hormone leptin, the long isoform activates JAK2 and STAT3 and the MAPK pathway, which suppresses appetite, raises energy expenditure and regulates neuroendocrine, reproductive and immune function. The soluble form can bind circulating leptin and influence its availability. Loss-of-function mutations in the receptor cause early-onset severe obesity with hyperphagia and delayed puberty, and altered receptor levels have been associated with obesity, insulin resistance and leptin resistance.
