Description

Rat MCSF ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Rat MCSF ELISA kits are used to detect Colony Stimulating Factor 1, Macrophage (MCSF) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. MCSF, macrophage colony-stimulating factor (CSF1), is a cytokine produced by fibroblasts, endothelial cells, osteoblasts, macrophages and many other cells, existing in secreted, proteoglycan and membrane-bound forms. It binds the receptor tyrosine kinase CSF1R, controlling the survival, proliferation and differentiation of monocytes, macrophages and microglia, and the release of pro-inflammatory chemokines in innate immunity. MCSF is also essential for osteoclast development and bone resorption, supports normal fertility and placental development, and affects actin organization in responding cells. Aberrant expression of MCSF or its receptor has been observed in breast, ovarian, prostate and endometrial cancers, where it may promote invasion and recruitment of tumour-associated macrophages. Elevated levels also occur in inflammatory conditions, so MCSF is studied in cancer, bone and immune research.
