The alpha-Synuclein (alpha-Syn) protein, abbreviated as NACP or SNCA, exists in two structural forms: a helix-rich, membrane-bound form with the Nand C-terminal sections of alpha-synuclein that are firmly linked to membranes, and a disordered, cytosolic species The majority of Synuclein is located in the presynaptic terminals, both free and membrane-bound. The SNCA is highly concentrated in the nucleus of neurons. In the olfactory bulb, hippocampus, striatum, and thalamus, alpha-Synuclein was highly expressed in the mitochondria while the cytosolic alpha-Synuclein was also plentiful. In pathological states associated with Lewy bodies, such as Parkinson's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies and multiple system atrophy, the unstructured soluble form of alpha-synuclein may aggregate to form insoluble fibrils. Mitochondrial damage and SNCA abnormality are two significant abnormalities in the brain of persons with Parkinson's disease (PD). In addition, alpha-synuclein is present in all forms of Parkinson's disease and diffuse Lewy body disease. Human Alpha-Synuclein/SNCA Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
