Human Catalase/CAT Recombinant Protein

Catalase (CAT) is a member of the catalase family. This protein protects cells from the damaging effects of hydrogen peroxide by forming a homotetramer that is present in nearly all aerobically respiring organisms. Catalase is localized in the peroxisome. Catalase encourages the growth of T-cells, B-cells, myeloid leukaemia cells, melanoma cells, mastocytoma cells, and normal and transformed fibroblast cells in vitro. Defects in the catalase enzyme cause acatalasemia, which is characterized by a lack of catalase activity in red cells and results in ulcerating oral lesions. Human Catalase/CAT Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
