Human CD147/Basigin Recombinant Protein

CD147/EMMPRIN (Extracellular Matrix Metalloproteinase Inducer), also known as Basigin (BSG), is a transmembrane glycoprotein with distinct forms produced by different types of glycosylation and N-terminal sequence variants. It is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with homology to both the immunoglobulin V domain and MHC class II antigen beta-chain. This protein play important role in a variety of events including spermatogenesis; embryo implantation; neural network formation. CD147 activates the production and release of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) by surrounding mesenchymal cells and tumour cells, allowing them to spread; metastasis; grow and survive in a cancerous setting. Additionally, CD147 is a receptor for extracellular cyclophilin and may be involved in signal transduction via its interaction with integrins. Recently; CD147 displayed increased expression in many cancers, and it has been previously demonstrated to participate in cancer metastasis and progression. CD147 and its antibody are used to treat malignant cancers. Human CD147/Basigin Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
