Human ERK3/MAPK12 Recombinant Protein

ERK3; also known as MAPK12 and p38-gamma; belongs to the protein kinase superfamily; CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family and MAP kinase subfamily. ERK3 is highly expressed in skeletal muscle and the heart, and it is a serine/threonine kinase that participates in MAP kinase signal transduction. MAPK12 is one of four p38 MAPKs that have been shown to play an important role in the cascades of cellular responses evoked by extracellular stimuli such as proinflammatory cytokines and physical stress, which leads to direct activation of transcription factors such as ELK1 and ATF2. As a result, p38 MAPKs phosphorylate a wide range of proteins, and it is speculated that each has around 200 to 300 substrates. PLK1 requires MAPK12 for proper kinetochore localization; it prevents chromosomal instability and promotes mitotic cell viability. MAPK12-signaling is also positively regulating the expansion of transient amplifying myogenic precursor cells during muscle growth and regeneration. Human ERK3/MAPK12 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
