Human Interleukin5/IL5 Recombinant Protein

IL-15 (interleukin 15) is a cytokine that controls T cell and natural killer cell activation and proliferation. IL-15 binds to the alpha subunit of the IL15 receptor (IL-15RA) with high affinity. It binds to the IL-2 receptor's beta and gamma chains, but not the alpha subunit. IL-15 is structurally and functionally related to IL-2. Both cytokines have overlapping subunits of receptors, allowing them to battle for and limit one other's activity. The number of CD8+ memory T cells is regulated by a balance between IL-15 and IL-2. Despite the fact that they have many overlapping immunological functions, IL-2 and IL-15 are actually quite distinct players in the immune system. IL-15 is produced by a wide range of cells, including monocytes, macrophages, and DCs. Mature Human IL-15 is a protein that has 70% amino acid sequence similarity with Mouse and Rat IL-15. Human Interleukin5/IL5 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
