Human S100A1 Recombinant Protein

The EF-hand protein S100A1 is a Ca2+ binding enzyme that belongs to the S100 protein family. S100 proteins are dimers in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a variety of cells, many of which are involved in the regulation of several cellular activities such as cell-cycle progression and cell differentiation. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated to participate in the actions of stimulation of Ca2+-induced Ca2+ release, microtubule assembly inhibition, and PKC-mediated phosphorylation inhibition. Phosphoglucomutase is a protein target that is antagonistically regulated by S100A1, and lately, it has been discovered to be a strong molecular chaperone and a new member of the Hsp70/Hsp90 multichaperone complex. S100A1 displays a tissue-specific expression pattern with highest levels in myocardium and is considered to be an important regulator of cardiac contractility. Reduced expression or mutations of S100A1 gene have been linked with cardiomyopathies. Human S100A1 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
