Human S100A11 Recombinant Protein

S100A11 is a member of the S100 family of calcium binding proteins. Human S100A11 is a protein that has two EF hand motifs and 82 percent amino acid sequence similarity with mouse and rat S100A11. It forms covalent heterodimers and tetramers via transglutamination, as well as disulfide-linked tetramers. Keratinocytes produce S100A11, which can be crosslinked into the cornified envelope of the skin. Dimerization enhances its ability to signal through RAGE on keratinocytes, induce the production of EGF family proteins, and induce cell proliferation. S100A11 activates RAGE on chondrocytes, causing hypertrophy and catabolism of the cartilage matrix via dimerization. In the cytosol, S100A11 is phosphorylated and translocates to the nucleus in response to DNA damage, RELM alpha exposure, or heightened extracellular calcium concentrations. Calcium encourages S100A11 binding to S100B and Annexins A1, A2, and A6. Annexin A2 complexes are recruited to sites of plasma membrane damage, where they help cancer cells migrate. S100A11 is upregulated in various cancers and supports tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. S100A11 is also made in the ovary, where it inhibits oocyte fertilization through cumulus cells. Human S100A11 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
