Human S100A6 Recombinant Protein

The S100 protein is a low-molecular-weight protein found in vertebrates that has two EF-hand calcium-binding motifs. There are at least 21 different S100 proteins; and the name comes from the fact that the protein is 100% soluble in ammonium sulfate at neutral pH. The majority of S100 proteins are homodimers that are disulfide-linked; they are generally found in cells derived from the neural crest, chondrocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and other cell types. S100 proteins have been linked to a variety of intracellular and extracellular activities. They participate in the regulation of protein phosphorylation, transcription factors, cytoskeletal components' dynamics, enzyme activities, cell growth and development, and inflammation. S100A6 (S100 calcium binding protein A6) is a member of the S100 family of proteins; it participates in prolactin production and exocytosis, as well as functioning in exocytosis. Chromosomal rearrangements and altered expression of S100A6 have been linked to melanoma development. Human S100A6 Recombinant Protein is a highly pure recombinant protein developed by Assay Genie for use in a range of applications.
