SARS-CoV-2 S2 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
SARS-CoV-2 S2 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Glu819-Asn919, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 13.18 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Spike glycoprotein (Spike glycoprotein 2) is a ~141 kDa protein. Attaches the virion to the cell membrane by interacting with host receptor, initiating the infection. For research use only.
The major receptor is host ACE2. When S2/S2' has been cleaved, binding to the receptor triggers direct fusion at the cell membrane. When S2/S2' has not been cleaved, binding to the receptor results in internalization of the virus by endocytosis using host TFRC and GRM2 and leading to fusion of the virion membrane with the host endosomal membrane. Alternatively, may use NRP1/NRP2 and integrin as entry receptors.
