Description
Succinic Acid Colorimetric Assay Kit (MAES0489)
The Succinic Acid Colorimetric Assay Kit provides a convenient and reliable method for quantifying succinic acid (succinate) in biological samples. Succinic acid is found throughout plant and animal tissues and was first isolated from amber. As a key intermediate of the citric acid (TCA) cycle, it plays a central role in cellular energy production, and its low toxicity has made it valuable across the agricultural, food and pharmaceutical industries. Measuring succinate levels offers useful insight into mitochondrial function and cellular metabolic activity.
In this assay, succinic acid is catalyzed by an enzyme reagent to react with a color developer, forming a colored product with maximum absorption at 555 nm. The succinic acid content of a sample is determined by measuring the OD value at 555 nm against a standard curve. Requiring only 20 μL of sample per assay, the kit offers a detection range of 0.007–0.50 mmol/L with high sensitivity (0.007 mmol/L) and is compatible with serum, plasma, tissue and cell samples. Results are read on a standard microplate reader (550–560 nm, optimal at 555 nm), making the kit well suited to high-throughput research in metabolism, mitochondrial biology, and related fields.
