Description

TG ELISA Kit

TG ELISA kits are used to detect Triglyceride (TG) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. TG, or triglyceride (triacylglycerol), is a neutral lipid made of a glycerol backbone esterified with three fatty acids. It is the main form of energy storage in adipose tissue and the major lipid in dietary fat. After meals triglycerides are packaged into chylomicrons in the intestine, while the liver exports them in very low-density lipoproteins, and lipoprotein lipase then hydrolyses them to release fatty acids for use by muscle and storage in fat. Elevated circulating triglycerides have been associated with obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease and acute pancreatitis, so triglyceride level is a standard indicator of lipid metabolism and metabolic health in research.
