Description

VK1 ELISA Kit

VK1 ELISA kits are used to detect Vitamin K1 (VK1) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. Vitamin K1 (VK1), also called phylloquinone or phytonadione, is a fat-soluble vitamin produced by plants and algae and obtained mainly from green leafy vegetables and some plant oils. It is absorbed in the intestine with dietary fats and stored mostly in the liver. VK1 is an essential cofactor for gamma-glutamyl carboxylase, which modifies glutamate residues in vitamin K-dependent proteins, including the clotting factors II, VII, IX and X, protein C and protein S, as well as bone proteins such as osteocalcin. Deficiency impairs blood coagulation and may cause bleeding, particularly in newborns, and it can be induced by anticoagulants such as warfarin, so VK1 is studied in coagulation, nutrition and bone research.
