Description

ACTb ELISA Kit

ACTb ELISA kits are used to detect Actin Beta (ACTb) in cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. ACTb (beta-actin, cytoplasmic actin 1) is one of the six actin isoforms and a major structural protein expressed in essentially all non-muscle cells. It exists as monomeric G-actin and polymerises into F-actin filaments that form cross-linked networks beneath the plasma membrane and throughout the cytoplasm, supporting cell shape, motility, division, intracellular transport and contraction. Actin is also present in the nucleus, where it contributes to transcription and chromatin remodelling. Because ACTb is highly and relatively consistently expressed, it is widely used as a loading control and housekeeping reference in expression studies, although levels can change under some conditions. Mutations in the ACTB gene cause dystonia-deafness syndrome and a range of developmental syndromes.
