Description
BEFV Nucleoprotein Recombinant Protein (N-His)
BEFV Nucleoprotein Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Asp46-Val431, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 46.37 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Nucleoprotein is a ~49 kDa protein. Encapsidates the genome, protecting it from nucleases. For research use only.
If expressed without protein P it binds non-specifically RNA and can therefore bind its own mRNA. Interaction with protein P abolishes any non-specific RNA binding, and prevents phosphorylation. The soluble N-P complex encapsidates specifically the genomic RNA, with protein N protecting the genome like a pearl necklace. The encapsidated genomic RNA is termed the nucleocapsid (NC) and serves as template for viral transcription and replication.
