Description

Dog Cor ELISA Kit

Dog Cor ELISA kits are used to detect Cortisol (Cor) in serum, plasma, urine and other biological samples. Cor, cortisol, also called hydrocortisone, is the principal glucocorticoid made by the zona fasciculata of the adrenal cortex from cholesterol, under the control of ACTH released from the pituitary as part of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. It follows a diurnal rhythm, peaking in the early morning, and rises sharply during stress. Cortisol acts through the glucocorticoid receptor to raise blood glucose by promoting gluconeogenesis, to mobilise fat and protein, to suppress immune and inflammatory responses and to influence blood pressure, mood and memory. High levels are seen in Cushing syndrome and chronic stress and low levels in Addison disease and adrenal insufficiency, so it is measured in saliva, blood, urine, hair and faeces in endocrine and stress research.
