Description

EE ELISA Kit

EE ELISA kits are used to detect Ethinylestradiol (EE) in serum, plasma, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. Ethinylestradiol (EE) is a synthetic oestrogen derived from estradiol by addition of an ethynyl group at carbon 17, which makes the molecule resistant to first-pass metabolism and gives it high oral potency. It binds the oestrogen receptors alpha and beta and is a key component of combined oral contraceptives and some menopausal hormone therapies. In use, it suppresses gonadotropin release and ovulation, and influences hepatic synthesis of proteins such as clotting factors and sex hormone-binding globulin. Because it is excreted and can persist in wastewater and the environment, where it acts as an endocrine-disrupting compound in fish and other wildlife, EE is also measured in environmental monitoring, as well as in pharmacokinetic and residue studies.
