Description
GenieDetect Mouse Telomere Length qPCR Assay Kit (Relative)
The GenieDetect Mouse Telomere Length qPCR Assay Kit (Relative) is a relative-quantification qPCR assay for measuring average telomere length in mouse genomic DNA samples. Telomeres are tandem TTAGGG repeats that cap chromosome ends, protecting them from degradation and fusion; their length shortens with cell division and is widely studied as a marker of ageing, DNA repair and disease.
The kit determines relative telomere length as the ratio (T/S) of the telomere repeat signal (T) to a single-copy reference gene (S). The single-copy primers specifically amplify a 100 bp region on mouse chromosome 10. Every primer set is validated for amplification efficiency (E greater than 98%, R2 greater than 0.99), melt-curve profile and gel electrophoresis to ensure specific, reproducible quantification.

| Step | Procedure |
| 1 | Purify high-quality genomic DNA from your mouse samples and normalise input concentrations. |
| 2 | Set up parallel qPCR reactions for the telomere (T) and single-copy reference (S) targets using the supplied master mix and primers. |
| 3 | Run the recommended qPCR programme, including standard/reference samples for relative quantification. |
| 4 | Calculate the T/S ratio for each sample to derive relative telomere length. |
Note: Accurate, equal DNA input across samples is critical for reliable T/S ratios. Run reactions in replicate and include a calibrator sample for cross-plate comparison.
What does this kit actually measure?
It measures relative average telomere length as the T/S ratio - the telomere repeat signal divided by a single-copy reference-gene signal - rather than an absolute length in kilobases.
Which instruments can I use?
The chemistry is compatible with all common real-time PCR instruments; ROX reference dye is supplied separately so you can add it only if your instrument requires it.
How were the primers validated?
Each primer set is confirmed for amplification efficiency (E greater than 98%, R2 greater than 0.99) alongside melt-curve analysis and gel electrophoresis to rule out non-specific products.
What sample material do I need?
High-quality mouse genomic DNA, with input amounts normalised across all samples for meaningful comparison.
