Description

Human 5HTR1B ELISA Kit

Human 5HTR1B ELISA kits are used to detect 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor 1B (5HTR1B) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. 5HTR1B is the 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor 1B, a G protein-coupled receptor that binds serotonin and also responds to ergot alkaloids, antidepressant and anxiolytic drugs and psychoactive substances such as LSD. It couples to Gi/Go proteins to inhibit adenylate cyclase and mediate inhibitory neurotransmission, and arrestins can switch its signaling to alternative pathways. In the brain it regulates the release of serotonin, dopamine and acetylcholine, influencing neural activity, pain perception, mood and behavior, and it also mediates vasoconstriction of cerebral arteries. These roles make the receptor a target in migraine therapy and a subject of research in depression, anxiety, aggression and addiction.
