Description

Human 5HTR5B ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human 5HTR5B ELISA kits are used to detect 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor 5B (5HTR5B) in tissue homogenates and other biological samples. 5HTR5B (5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 5B, or 5-HT5B) is a member of the 5-HT5 subfamily of serotonin receptors, which are G protein-coupled receptors believed to couple to Gi/o proteins. It is expressed in rodent brain, notably in the habenula, hippocampus and raphe nuclei, and has been linked to the regulation of sleep, mood and circadian rhythms. In some species, including humans, the gene carries a premature stop codon that prevents production of a functional receptor, so the protein is mainly characterised in rodent models. Because its function and pharmacology are less well understood than those of other serotonin receptors, 5HTR5B is mostly used as a research target in neurobiology.
