Description

Human ADCY2 ELISA Kit

Human ADCY2 ELISA kits are used to detect Adenylate Cyclase 2, Brain (ADCY2) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ADCY2, adenylyl cyclase type 2, is a membrane-bound enzyme expressed particularly in the brain, lung and skeletal muscle that converts ATP into the second messenger cyclic AMP in response to G protein signalling. It is stimulated by G protein beta-gamma subunits acting together with the Gs alpha subunit and by protein kinase C, which allows it to integrate inputs from several receptor pathways. It acts downstream of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, and the cAMP signalling it triggers alters gene expression patterns, including increased interleukin-6 production. Variants in the gene have been associated with bipolar disorder and other neuropsychiatric traits, so ADCY2 is of interest in neuroscience and studies of cAMP-dependent signalling in the nervous system and inflammation.
