Description

Human ARTN ELISA Kit

Human ARTN ELISA kits are used to detect Artemin (ARTN) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ARTN, or artemin, is a secreted neurotrophic factor of the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor family. It signals by binding its coreceptor GFRA3, which leads to dimerisation and autophosphorylation of the RET receptor tyrosine kinase. Artemin supports the survival of sensory and sympathetic peripheral neurons and of dopaminergic neurons of the ventral midbrain, and it also acts as a strong attractant for gut haematopoietic cells, promoting formation of Peyer's patch-like lymphoid structures. Because of its effects on sensory neurons, artemin has been linked to neuropathic pain and nerve regeneration, and higher expression has been reported in several tumours, where it may promote cell survival and invasion.
