Human ASM/aSMase Recombinant Protein (C-His)

Human ASM/aSMase Recombinant Protein (C-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in mammalian cells, spanning Leu47-Phe630, with a C-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 66.63 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase (ASM/aSMase) is a ~69 kDa protein. Converts sphingomyelin to ceramide. For research use only.

Exists as two enzymatic forms that arise from alternative trafficking of a single protein precursor, one that is targeted to the endolysosomal compartment, whereas the other is released extracellularly. However, in response to various forms of stress, lysosomal exocytosis may represent a major source of the secretory form.
