Description

Human ASPH ELISA Kit

Human ASPH ELISA kits are used to detect Aspartate Beta Hydroxylase (ASPH) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. ASPH, aspartate beta-hydroxylase, is an endoplasmic reticulum membrane enzyme that specifically hydroxylates an aspartate or asparagine residue in certain epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) domains of a number of proteins, including Notch family members. The ASPH gene also encodes shorter isoforms such as junctin and junctate. Isoform 8 (junctate) is a membrane-bound calcium-sensing protein that is a structural component of ER-plasma membrane junctions and regulates the activity of calcium release-activated calcium channels in T cells. Variants cause a syndrome with facial dysmorphism, lens dislocation and anterior segment abnormalities. ASPH is strongly overexpressed on the surface of many carcinomas, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, where it has been associated with invasion, so it is studied as a tumour marker.
