Description

Human BMP10 ELISA Kit

Human BMP10 ELISA kits are used to detect Bone Morphogenetic Protein 10 (BMP10) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. BMP10 is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family of the TGF beta superfamily and is expressed predominantly in the developing and adult heart. It is needed to maintain the proliferation of embryonic cardiomyocytes, by preventing premature activation of the cell cycle inhibitor CDKN1C and by maintaining expression of cardiogenic factors such as MEF2C and NKX2-5. BMP10 acts as a ligand for ACVRL1, BMPR1A and BMPR1B, activating the SMAD1, SMAD5 and SMAD8 transcription factors. It inhibits endothelial cell migration and growth. Defects in BMP10 may be a cause of congenital heart defects, and circulating BMP10 has been studied in hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia and pulmonary hypertension.
