Description

Human C3c ELISA Kit

Human C3c ELISA kits are used to detect Complement C3 Convertase (C3c) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, cell culture supernatants and other biological samples. The complement C3 convertase of the classical and lectin pathways is the enzyme complex C4b2a (C4b2b in an alternative naming), formed when the serine protease fragment of C2 binds the activated C4 fragment C4b on a pathogen or immune complex surface. This complex is the central amplification step of complement, because each convertase cleaves many molecules of C3 into the anaphylatoxin C3a and the opsonin C3b, which coats targets to promote phagocytosis and, by joining the convertase, switches it to a C5 convertase that starts assembly of the membrane attack complex. Excessive or deficient convertase activity has been associated with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and with recurrent infections.
