Description

Human CA72-4 ELISA Kit

Human CA72-4 ELISA kits are used to detect Carbonhydrate Antigen 72-4 (CA72-4) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. CA72-4 is a tumour-associated glycoprotein antigen defined by the monoclonal antibodies B72.3 and CC49, which recognise the sialyl-Tn epitope on a high molecular weight mucin. It is normally expressed at very low levels in healthy adult tissues but is found on many adenocarcinomas, particularly those of the stomach, ovary, colon and pancreas. Serum CA72-4 is measured as a tumour marker, most often in gastric cancer, where raised levels have been associated with advanced stage and recurrence. It may also be raised in ovarian and colorectal cancer, and combined measurement with CEA or CA125 may improve sensitivity. Mild increases can occur in some benign conditions, so interpretation requires care.
