Description

Human CD99 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human CD99 ELISA kits are used to detect Cluster Of Differentiation 99 (CD99) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. CD99 is a small, heavily O-glycosylated cell surface glycoprotein that is broadly expressed on haematopoietic and other cells. It is involved in T cell adhesion and in the spontaneous rosette formation between T cells and erythrocytes. CD99 also plays a role in leukocyte extravasation, acting at a late step to help leukocytes cross the endothelial basement membrane, at the same site as PECAM1 but independently of it. Its expression is notably high on Ewing sarcoma cells, and it is routinely used as an immunohistochemical marker for this tumour and for some lymphoblastic leukaemias. CD99 is therefore of interest in both inflammation and cancer research.
