Description
Human CDKN2A Recombinant Protein (N-GST & C-His)
Human CDKN2A Recombinant Protein (N-GST & C-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Val2-Arg54, with an N-terminal GST tag and a C-terminal His tag. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Tumor suppressor ARF (CDKN2A/p16INK4a) is a ~13 kDa protein. Capable of inducing cell cycle arrest in G1 and G2 phases. For research use only.
Acts as a tumor suppressor. Binds to MDM2 and blocks its nucleocytoplasmic shuttling by sequestering it in the nucleolus. This inhibits the oncogenic action of MDM2 by blocking MDM2-induced degradation of p53 and enhancing p53-dependent transactivation and apoptosis. Also induces G2 arrest and apoptosis in a p53-independent manner by preventing the activation of cyclin B1/CDC2 complexes.
