Description

Human CTSE ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human CTSE ELISA kits are used to detect Cathepsin E (CTSE) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological samples. CTSE, or cathepsin E, is an intracellular aspartic protease that is expressed mainly in immune cells and in epithelial tissues such as the stomach and skin, and it localises to endosomes and the endoplasmic reticulum. It is thought to take part in the processing of antigenic peptides for presentation on MHC class II molecules, so it contributes to adaptive immune responses. It has also been suggested to influence lymphocyte loss in the thymus, and to take part in neuronal degeneration and glial activation in the brain. Altered cathepsin E levels have been reported in some cancers, notably pancreatic and gastric tumours, and the enzyme is studied in antigen presentation and tumour research.
