Description

Human CYGB ELISA Kit

Human CYGB ELISA kits are used to detect Cytoglobin (CYGB) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. CYGB, or cytoglobin, is a globin with a hexacoordinated heme iron that is expressed in many tissues, including fibroblasts, neurons and the stellate cells of the liver, and was also called stellate cell activation-associated protein. It is thought to be multifunctional, with activities depending on redox state and oxygen availability. It has nitric oxide dioxygenase activity and is most probably involved in oxygen-dependent nitric oxide consumption, so by scavenging this messenger it may help regulate processes such as endothelium-mediated vasodilation and vascular tone. It may also protect cells from oxidative stress and take part in collagen synthesis. Altered expression has been associated with liver fibrosis, some cancers and neuroprotection, so it is studied in redox and hypoxia biology.
