Description

Human CYPB ELISA Kit

Human CYPB ELISA kits are used to detect Cyclophilin B (CYPB) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. CYPB, or cyclophilin B (peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase B, encoded by PPIB), is a member of the cyclophilin family that catalyses the cis-trans isomerisation of proline peptide bonds, a rate-limiting step in protein folding. It is found mainly in the endoplasmic reticulum, where it works as a folding assistant, notably for collagen, and it is also secreted and binds the immunosuppressant cyclosporin A. Cyclophilin B can act as an extracellular signal that attracts leukocytes and promotes cell adhesion. Mutations in the gene cause a recessive form of osteogenesis imperfecta, characterised by bone fragility and fractures. Altered CYPB levels have been reported in some cancers, in inflammatory conditions and in viral infections such as hepatitis C, where cyclophilins support viral replication.
