Human DEFA4 Recombinant Protein (N-GST) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Gly20-Asp97, with an N-terminal GST tag. Predicted molecular weight: 35.3 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 0.02% NLS, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Defensin alpha 4 (DEFA4) is a ~10 kDa protein. Host-defense peptide that has antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria, and to a lesser extent also against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. For research use only.
Exhibits antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative E.coli and E.aerogenes and Gram-positive S.faecalis, S.aureus and B.cereus and the yeast C.albicans (in vitro). Interacts with pathogenic surface proteins and toxins, such as HIV-1 surface protein gp120 and B.anthracis anthrax lethal factor lef. Protects blood cells against infection with HIV-1 (in vitro). Inhibits enzymatic activity of B.anthracis lef/anthrax lethal factor (in vitro).
