Human Dopamine beta-hydroxylase / DbH ELISA Kit

The oxidoreductase protein encoded by Dopamine beta-hydroxylase/DbH belongs to the copper type II, ascorbate-dependent monooxygenase family. The encoded protein, which is found in the adrenal medulla's neuroscretory vesicles and chromaffin granules, catalyses the conversion of dopamine to norepinephrine, a hormone and the primary neurotransmitter of the sympathetic nervous system. Dopamine beta-hydroxylate insufficiency is caused by mutations in Dopamine beta-hydroxylase/DbH in humans, and it is characterised by autonomic and cardiovascular dysfunction, including hypotension and ptosis. Polymorphisms in Dopamine beta-hydroxylase/DbH could have a role in a number of mental illnesses. Orthostatic Hypotension 1 and Dopamine Beta-Hydroxylase Deficiency are two diseases linked to DBH.
