Description

Human DSPP ELISA Kit

Human DSPP ELISA kits are used to detect Dentin Sialophosphoprotein (DSPP) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. DSPP, or dentin sialophosphoprotein, is a large secreted protein that is expressed mainly by odontoblasts, the cells that form dentin, and is cleaved after secretion into two main fragments, dentin sialoprotein and dentin phosphoprotein. Dentin phosphoprotein is a highly acidic, phosphorylated protein that binds large amounts of calcium and facilitates initial mineralisation of the collagen matrix of dentin, and it also regulates the size and shape of the mineral crystals. DSPP is therefore regarded as a key factor in dentinogenesis. Mutations in the gene cause dentin disorders, namely dentinogenesis imperfecta and dentin dysplasia, and one dominant form is accompanied by progressive hearing loss, which makes DSPP a research target in tooth development and mineralisation.
