Human EDN / Eosinophil derived neurotoxin ELISA Kit

EDN (Eosinophil derived neurotoxin) is a highly potent and selective eosinophil-derived neurotoxin (EDNT) that is isolated from the venom of the Brazilian sand spider, Loxosceles intermedia. EDN is composed of a disulfide-linked heterodimer of the 33-kDa light chain and the 11.5-kDa heavy chain of eosinophil granule proteins. The LC has high affinity for voltage-gated sodium channels and blocks their inactivation, leading to neuronal hyperexcitability and cell death. The HC binds to apoptotic cells and inhibits the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c into the cytosol, thereby blocking apoptosis. EDNT is a potent neurotoxin that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels, causing neuronal hyperexcitability and cell death.
