Description

Human EDN2 ELISA Kit

Human EDN2 ELISA kits are used to detect Endothelin 2 (EDN2) in serum, plasma and other biological samples. EDN2, or endothelin 2, is one of three endothelin peptides, which are potent vasoconstrictors originally identified in endothelial cells. It is produced as a preproendothelin precursor that is cleaved to the mature 21 amino acid peptide, and it signals through the G protein-coupled endothelin receptors ETA and ETB. Compared with endothelin 1, it is expressed in more restricted sites, including the intestine, kidney, uterus, ovary and placenta, and it is induced by hypoxia. EDN2 has roles in ovulation, in the regulation of vascular tone and in gut and kidney physiology. Altered expression has been associated with ovarian function, certain cancers and hypertension, so it is studied in endocrine and vascular biology.
