Description
Human EIF2B5 Recombinant Protein (N-His)
Human EIF2B5 Recombinant Protein (N-His) is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli, spanning Pro42-Gly516, with an N-terminal His tag. Predicted molecular weight: 55.32 kDa. Purity: >90% as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied lyophilized from a solution in PBS pH 7.4, 1 mM EDTA, 4% Trehalose, 1% Mannitol. Applications: ELISA, immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot. Translation initiation factor eIF2B subunit epsilon is a ~80 kDa protein. Acts as a component of the translation initiation factor 2B (eIF2B) complex, which catalyzes the exchange of GDP for GTP on eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (eIF2) gamma subunit. For research use only.
Its guanine nucleotide exchange factor activity is repressed when bound to eIF2 complex phosphorylated on the alpha subunit, thereby limiting the amount of methionyl-initiator methionine tRNA available to the ribosome and consequently global translation is repressed.
