Description

Human CD248 ELISA Kit

Human CD248 ELISA kits are used to detect Endosialin (CD248) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. Endosialin, also known as CD248 or tumour endothelial marker 1, is a transmembrane C-type lectin-like glycoprotein expressed on pericytes, fibroblasts and tumour stromal cells, particularly during active angiogenesis and tissue remodelling, while its expression is low in most normal adult tissues. It contributes to pericyte proliferation by enhancing PDGF receptor signalling, and it participates in immune modulation, wound repair and macrophage inflammatory responses. It can also act as a scaffold for factor X and thereby influence coagulation. High endosialin expression in the stroma of many cancers has been associated with tumour growth and metastasis, making it a target in tumour microenvironment research.
