Description

Human ETFb ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human ETFb ELISA kits are used to detect Electron Transfer Flavoprotein Beta Polypeptide (ETFb) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ETFb is the beta subunit of the electron transfer flavoprotein, a heterodimer found in the mitochondrial matrix together with the alpha subunit. The complex accepts electrons from several mitochondrial flavoprotein dehydrogenases, including the acyl-CoA dehydrogenases and glutaryl-CoA and sarcosine dehydrogenases, and passes them to the respiratory chain through ETF-ubiquinone oxidoreductase. This makes it essential for mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation and for the breakdown of certain amino acids and choline. The beta subunit binds an AMP molecule that is thought to have a structural role. Mutations in the gene cause glutaric aciduria type 2, also called multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency, a recessive disorder of fatty acid and amino acid metabolism, so ETFb is studied in mitochondrial metabolism.
