Description

Human EXT1 ELISA Kit

Human EXT1 ELISA kits are used to detect Exostoses 1 (EXT1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. EXT1 is a Golgi-resident glycosyltransferase that partners with EXT2 to form the heparan sulfate polymerase. This heterodimeric enzyme extends the heparan sulfate backbone by alternately adding glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine residues, and EXT1 supplies the glucuronyltransferase activity of the complex. Heparan sulfate chains on cell surface and matrix proteoglycans bind growth factors and morphogens, so EXT1 activity influences developmental signalling and tissue patterning. Loss-of-function variants in EXT1 are associated with hereditary multiple exostoses, a dominantly inherited disorder characterised by cartilage-capped bony outgrowths, which makes EXT1 an important target in skeletal biology and proteoglycan research.
