Description

Human F13B ELISA Kit

Human F13B ELISA kits are used to detect Coagulation Factor XIII B Polypeptide (F13B) in plasma and other biological samples. F13B is the B subunit of coagulation factor XIII, a plasma protein made mainly in the liver that circulates in complex with the catalytic A subunits as a heterotetramer. It is thought to stabilise the A subunits in the circulation and to regulate how quickly thrombin converts the complex into the active transglutaminase. Once activated, factor XIII cross-links fibrin strands and other proteins, which strengthens blood clots and makes them resistant to fibrinolysis, so the B subunit has an indirect role in clot stability and wound healing. Inherited deficiency of the B subunit is a rare autosomal recessive bleeding disorder with a lifelong bleeding tendency, impaired wound healing and pregnancy loss, and F13B levels are studied in coagulation research.
