Human GAD1 / Glutamate decarboxylase 1 ELISA Kit

GAD1/Glutamate decarboxylase 1 breaks down glutamic acid, a chemical that occurs naturally in the body. GAD1/Glutamate decarboxylase 1 is responsible for converting L-glutamic acid to gamma-aminobutyric acid. GAD1/Glutamate decarboxylase 1 has been associated with diabetic disease since it was found to be an autoantigen and autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. Deficiency in GAD1/Glutamate decarboxylase 1 has been linked to pyridoxine dependency with seizures and stiff man syndrome. GAD1-related disorders include Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy 89, as well as Inherited Congenital Spastic Tetraplegia. Alanine and aspartate metabolism are two of GAD1 related processes, along with Synaptic Neurotransmission: GABAergic Inhibition.
