Description

Human GATA5 ELISA Kit

Human GATA5 ELISA kits are used to detect GATA Binding Protein 5 (GATA5) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. GATA5 is a zinc finger transcription factor of the GATA family that is required for cardiovascular development and is expressed in the heart, gut, lung and vascular smooth muscle. It binds the consensus DNA sequence WGATAR and cooperates with other factors, and it has been shown to bind a cardiac-specific enhancer of the slow and cardiac troponin C gene. GATA5 contributes to the transcriptional programmes underlying smooth muscle cell diversity and to the development of the endocardium, the cardiac outflow tract and the gut epithelium. Variants in the gene have been associated with congenital heart defects, including bicuspid aortic valve and atrial septal defects, and with atrial fibrillation, so GATA5 is studied in cardiac development and congenital disease.
