Description

Human HMGN1 ELISA Kit

Human HMGN1 ELISA kits are used to detect High Mobility Group Nucleosome Binding Domain Protein 1 (HMGN1) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. HMGN1, also known as HMG-14, is an abundant non-histone chromosomal protein that binds to nucleosome core particles and is found in the nuclei of nearly all vertebrate cells. By attaching to the inner face of the nucleosomal DNA it alters the contacts between DNA and the histone octamer, helping to keep transcribed genes in a relaxed, accessible chromatin state, and it can inhibit phosphorylation of histones H3 and H2A by kinases such as MSK1 and RSK2. HMGN1 therefore influences gene expression, DNA repair and cell identity. The HMGN1 gene lies on chromosome 21, and its dosage has been proposed to contribute to features of Down syndrome, while altered expression has been reported in several cancers.
