Description

Human ITGa5 ELISA Kit (Small Sample Volume)

Human ITGa5 ELISA kits are used to detect Integrin Alpha 5 (ITGa5) in tissue homogenates, cell lysates and other biological samples. ITGa5, also known as integrin alpha-5 or CD49e, is the alpha subunit of the heterodimeric integrin that pairs with beta-1 to form alpha5beta1 (VLA-5), the principal fibronectin receptor. It recognizes the arginine-glycine-aspartate (RGD) sequence in ligands including fibronectin, fibrinogen, fibrillin-1 and SNED1, and mediates cell adhesion, migration and extracellular matrix signaling. Alpha5beta1 is also required for interleukin-1 beta signaling, while the alpha5 subunit paired with beta-3 serves as a receptor for soluble CD40 ligand. ITGa5 is important in vascular development and angiogenesis, and elevated expression has been associated with tumor progression and metastasis in various cancers. Several viruses, including human metapneumovirus, also use alpha5beta1 as a receptor.
